p>STAINED GLASS LEAVES This is a wonderfully simple activity that young and older children will enjoy. You will need old crayons which you have made shavings from, construction paper, wax paper, glue and an iron. Cut small squares of construction paper. We used squares about 4 x 4 inches. You will need 2 per child. Now trace a simple leaf design on the square of paper. We used a maple leaf stencil. They need to be identical. Now cut out the leaf design leaving the center of the square open in a leaf shape. We had these precut for younger ones but older children could cut them out by themselves. Have your wax paper cut into squares slightly smaller than your construction paper ones. Glue a wak x paper square to each construction paper square. Now lay one square flat and sprinkle different color shavings on. Don't spread them to thick. Fall colors like orange, green, brown and yellow look great. Spread some glue along the sides of the other square and glue the two pieces together Set your iron on warm and lay a piece of paper over the leaf square and press. These are beautiful hung in the window! You could also iron the wax squares together first before gluing them in between the construction paper.
